This film didn't have a major release. The budget was only 1 million. From what I read it was only shown at small film festivals and in limited release in the US. That could mean only a few theaters and then pulled for big releases. If there was no major marketing campaign or tv ads who would know about it? So that gross isn't unusual.

It only played in one theater in LA for a week. I saw it on a Thursday afternoon, and my friends and I were the only ones in the theater. $48,000 seems accurate.

Wow. My husband and I rented it and loved it so much we ran out and bought it. So we account for $10 of that.

I guess it's an art house film even though I thought David Hyde pierce would pull in more than that on name alone.

I think the 48.000 is just what it made on its theatrical run, rental and home video sales will be added to that. I've bought the movie too and so far everybody I've recommended it to liked it. It's sad to see a fun original movie doing so badly.
