the postcsrd had a real-looking Australian postmark

So, does Warwick draw one on and just put the card in his mailbox? He didn't know John was coming. How else could he get a card with that particular postmark on it if he wasn't in Australia (and it would have come up if he'd been there)? And if it was mailed from anywhere else, it would show another postmark, probably right over the drawn one.

This makes no sense. The camera showed it in the frame, which was not really necessary--and it spoils the story.

A lot of this story was logically difficult to explain, but I didn't mind. This, I minded.

Yeah it did. Can be added to the goofs.

Well, maybe he's more thorough than we think. He might pop the postcard into an envelope, mail it to an Aussie acquaintance, and ask them to attach postage and mail it to him in the States. Just a possibility.

Think cynical thoughts.

If the guy has imaginary friends, it's not so hard to believe he'd send himself mail too.

It also ties in at the end when the detective gets the poloroid and he keeps looking at the stamp. Did John send it, or did his colleague to spur an investigation and keep up his game?

reply

Yes, John sent it. At 44:49 minutes in we see John scoot over to the photo and grab it, then shove into his back pocket or down the back of his pants while he waits for his blue drink before the line dance.

By the end of the film, too many plot devices have revealed themselves.
