How did John find his girlfriend in the parking garage?

By "confirming" the reservation he was able to find out the make and model.

Yeah, I got that but how did he know she would be in that parking garage? Finding out the make and model of a car doesn't inform you where it will be in the city of L.A.

Because the car rental place was in the garage. You see the sign for it, I think when the cops are waiting to get in, You see a guy standing on the side, he moves then you can the sign.

Wasn't there a flashback to the bathtub chess lesson about anticipating your opponent's next move? The girlfriend knew to make a bogus reservation at an obvious rental spot then shifted to a different one. This occurred to John who readjusted. Still... I admit.. It's a stretch.

Yes, he planned all that, but I think she ratted him out. The radio broadcast said "a bank employee identified the robber as John Taylor," and that's when he realized how he got caught, she threw him under the bus.
