So did he..

I was really surprised on how much I liked this movie.

But did David Hyde Pierce really kill those people or was it all just make up? What was the point of the make up? So he wouldn't get caught?

He killed them. John was spared fire two reasons. One the neighbor saw him and two he had tina of money to steal.

I disagree with wallyworld. I don't think Warwick killed anyone. I think the point of the make-up was to make it look like he had been killed just like the others. In fact I think the make-up is the biggest hint that he hadn't killed anybody; he made John up to look just like the others, so we then realize they weren't murdered either.

I'm not sure why the other people he harassed didn't come forward about it. Maybe he had something on them, was blackmailing them somehow, I'm not sure.

I think it was all a game to him, and he never killed anyone. He's trying to keep his psychotic urges at bay by acting out those fantasies. But i think it's a slippery slope that can't be staved off, since it seems he will actually kill the other detective suspecting him.

I think he killed people john was spared because the lady could trace him to the house if he showed up dead.he needed him on the run cause of the money and warwick lost the bet playing chess.

I agree with the other users who say that Warwick never killed anyone. He has a train case full of theatrical makeup. This implies that he plans to use it a lot, and viewers can infer that the special effects makeup he put on John is something he's done to others. (As for his reasoning, I think he doesn't kill anyone because he's a police lieutenant and he respects the law, but he's still insane and wants to indulge in his fantasies.)

i don't think he killed anyone - case in point, there is a film he shows John of a previous "party" its back and white artily shot and he is seen slashing himself to the point it would leave scars and he is licking the knife etc, at the end when john stabs warwick with the retractable knife warwick says "whoopsie" and lifts his shirt to show a) no stab wound and b) no scars - suggesting it was all makeup. I think he just enjoyed playing with people and feeling the power associated with being a serial killer without having to really go all the way

There was also only one other victim in the album, most likely another criminal too afraid to rat out a police lieutenant
