Plot hole?

At the end Warwick, having been basically found out, invites the detective over for dinner and the movie implies this is a horrific thing. Why? All Warwick does is drug his victims and put makeup on them, then toss them onto the footpath so they wake up. They don't even have amnesia.

So...the dective will go thru the same process as John....drugged, emotionally abused, made up, then tossed out. Next day the detective will wake up and Warwick will go to prison. Pointless.

I interpreted Warwick as a serial killer who let John get away. Now as for the officer, he wouldn't let him go. His fate is death.

I gave it some thought and actually I think all his precious victims were spared. He probably has something on them so hence they didn't step forward and report his actions. He sets up these elaborate fantasies to keep himself from actually acting out on his psychotic desires. He knows that he can't let his cop friend get away however, and the ending would suggest that he's fully gone off the deep end and will go through with the murder this time around.

There were minor references to Morton being a gambler; possibly Warwick was planning on blackmailing him as well?

But the writer/director himself reportedly claimed Warwick was heading into new territory at the end; i.e., he was planning to commit actual murder for the first time.

Gambling is not a blackmailable offense compared to a detective committing murder.

Why was it obvious? He didn't kill the other guy... What's not obvious is why you call yourself green donkey. Actually on second thought, I don't give a *beep*
