Just one of many dicey things to consider.
Something that I thought was not very clear in this movie was if we were seeing Warwick's character at an unraveling point, or if he has always been this reckless in his behavior. He knew all along (well, almost all along) that the man in his house was the same criminal he was hunting. But then he lets him go. So if this guy is ever caught, the chances are that he will connect back to Warwick.
The end of the movie implies that he is going to kill (or something) the other detective. Even if he does a good job covering it up, that's another person he's victimized who is in his "circle" of people he's connected to. There's also the chance that the other detective will show the Polaroid to someone else, so then that's another person/witness Warwick would have to take care of.
If Warwick is always this reckless, I find it hard to believe he's held his job and not been arrested for very long. He has a serious psychological ailment which he seems to be self-medicating, so he's either buying from a drug dealer or stealing from evidence rooms or something.
If, on the other hand, we are seeing a man who has been in control but is now spinning out of control, it makes more sense.
