Possible connection to 'Blade Runner' (1982)? ***SPOILERS***

I've been thinking about this a lot lately. Hypothetically, could a connection between "Never Let Me Go" (2010) and "Blade Runner" (1982) be possible? Both films involve the creation of genetically engineered humans (replicants in "Blade Runner," and clones raised for the sole purpose of harvesting their vital organs later on in life in "Never Let Me Go"). In both films, said "humans" have little or no rights and are basically slaves at the disposal of "normal" humans. They also come to understand in both instances what it's like to have a short life-span and have thus come to appreciate life far more than any "normal" human ever could. From a certain perspective, could "Blade Runner" be an extension of the world from "Never Let Me Go"? For example, say that the harvesting of organs from the clones in "Never Let Me Go" successfully led to the complete eradication of disease and chronic illnesses within a few generations, and with all these clones around, society decided to simply enslave them, rather than let them live out the rest of lives in peace (like "we" would).
