Sorry you felt it was shallow. I find it profoundly deep in a minimalist style.

I agree completely. I also found it an incredibly deep and beautiful story. Albeit sad.

Agree. I was halfway through the film and assumed this was an adaptation of a novel one is better off exploring. It turns out the original novelist is Japanese (I think!). Having not read the novel, I'm wondering if the story takes place in Japan or South East Asia as organ farming sounds like a practice which is more likely to take place in that part of the world.
