Hammer Films are Back!!!!

Great news! Heard The Resident is a Hammer film, about time we got back to seeing some good old spine-chilling horror from our favourite studio!!! Good luck!
Hilary & Comedian = cool.

this news has made my morning. I know a lot of the younger generation of today wouldn't appreciate the classics (i myself am 19) due to their age or some sh*t, but I watched all the Dracula's and Frankenstein's to death. I also liked the Skull. Plus Chistopher Lee is rumoured to be in this, so that pretty much sells it for me. And yes, the Comedian rocks.

It is very interesting that there is a Finnish director in this film - I'm Finnish myself :) I just hope that the participation of mr. Lee is not just a rumour like it has been in many cases over the years...

I love the old Hammer horror films. Yes, it would be great news if Hammer films was 'back', but considering that the firm that bought the Hammer library and name is led by reality show producer John De Mol (Big Brother and Fear Factor), you'll have to excuse me if I'm more than just a little concerned about the future of the Hammer name. When they've put out some good movies that aren't an embarrassment to the Hammer name, then I'll start to agree with some of you here. Putting out a series of films that deserve the Hammer moniker is a lot harder than just throwing together some crappy horror films and throwing the Hammer name on the credits and dvd covers. I'll believe it when they prove to me that they actually know what they're doing. If I was a zillionaire, maybe I could throw together a bunch of money and buy the MGM name and release new films with an MGM logo at the front, but if they're made on Monogram studio size budgets by talentless morons, I wouldn't really be restoring the MGM studio to glory any more than zapping Val Lewton's corpse with a lightning bolt is likely to usher in a new era of atmospheric, gorgeously shot black & white RKO horror films.

Yawnnnnnnnnn. There is always someone who wants to piss on peoples parade. Let us all look forward to the 1st Hammer horror in years without someone like you coming on here trying to steal the thunder. If your a pessimist fine, but dont put all your doom and gloom on this thread.

I personally think this Hammer horror will live up to it's predecessors.

Harsh :( The scenario that user described happens all the time. More often than not though, studios are well restored :) Hopefully everything will work out for the best ;)

Neil, upon what are you basing your final sentence ? A sunny outlook ?

And, yes, I fear the outcome may be as the poster above you suggests, but would love to be proven wrong.
