This movie did kinda suck. )(SPOILERS)

there just was no explanation as to why this dude was such a whacko. they may have vaguely hinted that his gramps was a bit overbearing & disliked his father etc. but nothing to suggest that he'd have compulsive stalking issues or anything to that effect.

The newspaper article said that his father killed his wife and himself, then his grandfather later said that he was weak like his father.

I think if genetics didn't make him crazy, the grandfather comparing him to his crazy father did.

Not to mention, you don't always have to have an explanation. In real life, tons of people are crazy with little to no explanation i.e. Ted Bundy. Although in fiction I do usually appreciate having some idea as to the source of the craziness, but in this movie it was clear that he was crazy partly due to his grandpa & his genes.

Valid point. i must've missed that article.

I too usually like a little explanation or detailing about the source of the crazy, just seems to make the whole story more enjoyable (even if less plausible).

During the flashback sequence you hear a child scream "NO!!" which to me sounded like he was a witness to his Father killing his Mother and then killing himself. That would make anyone crazy.

Yeh this movie did kind of suck also and what ever happened to Jack? I thought his body would fall out of somewhere lol. Unless I missed something he just seemed to disappear after psycho found him in the apartment looking at the door near the wine racks.

He (well, his body) reappeared near the very, very end...

But you will do - if you watch for thirty minutes!"

Yep. When a movie dedicates 30 minutes to cliche psycho-guy-chases-helpless-girl-through-apartment-with-helpless-girl-inevitably-triumphing scene, and only 3 minutes to explaining why said psycho guy is such a psycho. You know you're not watching a good movie.
