This is of course just my opinion, but I would list the following season from best to worst:
- 2
- 3
- 4
- first half of S5
-1
- second part of S5
- 6
I split season 5 in two because I thought the show got insanely boring after they only followed the original glee club members in New York. Very surprisingly, because I loved to follow Rachel, Kurt and Santana in New York before that. And the last season was a snoozefest to me.
Thoughts?
I've yet to see Seasons 5 & 6, so I can list only Seasons 1 - 4, but here goes:

I didn't dislike the newer characters, but I wasn't especially wild about them, either. My favourite minor character is Becky (I guess I'm in the minority on that).
Forgot Blaine! He's so cute, so he comes pretty high on my list. Yeah same with the new ones. I couldn't really invest in season 4, cause I only cared about the original glee club members.
I liked Becky in the beginning, but got sick of her vulgar bitchiness and comments
We also forgot about Sam! As regards Kitty, I as a viewer forgave her for her behaviour after she tearfully apologized to Marley in the "Shooting Star" episode.
Wasn't it peculiar how Joe and Sugar were continually and unexplainedly missing from the Season Four episodes? I found it a shame, because I like those two.

Seasons 1-4 are the best with Finn, Seasosn 5-6 were the worst because, not only Finn died, Marley should have guest-appearing in this show's series finale after Sue Sylvester's official surrender to the glee clubs, I don't care about Rory because they gave him a proper ending.

5) I can't really decide between 4 and 5. Second half of season 4 and first half of season 5 was watchable, but I just couldn't stand most of the first half of season 4 and last half of season 5.

Favorite seasons:
Season 2-great plot lines that were balanced among characters, plus the addition of Sam and Blaine (one of my fave characters). And I love the relationship story of Blaine and Kurt
3- didn't like all the new characters but I still liked most plot lines
1- I liked it ok, but 2 was much better.
5- loved the blaine/ Kurt storylines. It did become too reliant on Rachel.
4-too many breakups and changes.
6-hated it. Didn't even watch the last few
episodes just skipped to finale.
Ok, all that time waiting for them to get back together just to break them up again in season 6. Horrible storylines trying to get them back together. I get the David Krofskey storyline, but Kurt with a much older man. What would his dad think of that? That whole storyline just didn't match the characters at all. Basically they were trying to spread out their breakup until the wedding but the writing was so bad. I'm glad they got married, but as sweet and strong as the were at the end of season 5, they wouldn't have split over something so silly. Blaine always fought for Kurt.
