Bashing someone senseless with a garbage can?

How was this in the Christmas spirit? What idiot thought that was a funny thing to do?

reply

I thought it was ridiculous. They should have approached the shopkeeper when the officer was there and basically shamed him into giving the bike to them. Assaulting the man and breaking into the shop was unjustified as was the lead gal's reaction to her "hero". Most women would be appalled by those events, not laughing all the way home.

reply

Yes that was the one part of the movie that seemed very out of place. Especially since Uncle Ralph is a retired cop.

Gus:I have never been so motivated to make money
Hardison: Yeah, if Godzilla's a gecko

such behavior around the holidays: he should just can it.

You're killing me!

The owner was being unreasonable.
The owner agreed to a fight.
The owner fell for the trick.

It was the only way to get that bike for Christmas. It was an necessary evil.
But I agree another method would have been better.

The previous posters reactions to this scene are hilarious! You would think that they filmed a puppy or kitten getting beat with a trash can and it really happened in real life and they stuck the scene into this movie. People need to lighten up...

Anyway...If some asshat held one of my x-mas gifts for my child that I already paid for hostage (on x-mas eve no less), treated me rudely and acted like that, I would have NO problem doing what needs to be done to get my gift.

^ Ahahaha, THIS!!

reply

The OP has a good point, it seemed a bit out of place, but I agree, the owner was being an arse.

Exactly! She paid for the bike. He wasn't doing anything except getting a hair cut. He was an ass!

reply

Yeah, that was really the only part of the movie I didn't like.

reply

It didn't fit, especially leaving the guy with unknown injuries in the snow. They should have tricked him instead. Pull the alarm, wait for the cops to show up, collect the bike while the cops were there.

reply

Just saw that scene and completely ruined the move especially when the dumb blonde says "that was amazing." Yeah, amazingly criminal. Then leaving an unconscious guy out in the snow. And this is a X-mas movie movie?

reply

The fat prick deserved it. They should have smashed his face again while he was knocked out.

reply

Well said! I'd of stomped his ass into the ground after I had knocked the twat out

reply

That guy was a jerk for no legitimate reason. I didn't feel bad for him. She overpaid for that bike, and he refused to give it to her when he was just getting a hair cut! It's not like he was out of town or anything.

reply

Are you kidding? That guy took her money with promises to deliver this bike, then backs out and refuses to give her what she paid for. And he wasn't going to refund her money either! Who in hell does that? He had to have been the most corrupt seller outside of Craigslist! He deserved that garbage can beat down!

reply

The most unrealistic part of the movie for me.
As other posters have said, the toy store owners' behaviour was completely unreasonable. It's hard to believe someone who owns a toy store and spends all day dealing with kids and parents would be such an a""hole.
Morgan's reaction, and in turn Jennifer's reaction to that were even more unbelievable. Like an earlier poster said, it would have played better if he'd just been shamed in to handing the bike over when the police came. Or better still if he'd come and given her the bike when she called him.
I get that we needed to see Morgan being a problem solver and coming to the rescue - surely pointing to the phone number while Jen was panicking would have been enough.
I think they tried to make it a funny moment but it didn't work, it just seemed like something out of a cartoon.
