More of a momentary parody based on one of the greatest parody films of all time...

One character to another: "Surely you can't be serious."

The reply: "I am serious, and...never question my seriousness."

We all need mirrors to remind ourselves who we are...I'm no different...

And if you think about it, the whole damn show could be considered an "homage" to Airplane.

Facts are meaningless. You could use facts to prove anything that's even remotely true!

Yes, and they were obviously playing on the commonness of the quote. That was the joke.
