Did anyone else think it was funny that Francis Ford Coppola was criticizing George Lucas for the prequels saying they tarnished the legacy of the earlier films? All I have to say is Godfather 3.

It did seem to come from out of left field. I'd like to see that Coppola interview (you can tell by its age that it's stock footage) in its entirety; feels like they took his words out of context to further the bashing. I emphasize "feels" as I haven't yet seen that interview within the necessary context (as in, I mean no accusations).

If you've seen any of the stuff he's put out, that's probably for the best. It should have gone: Apocalypse Now, retire to the Vineyards.

Godfather 3 didn't change anything about GF1 and GF2, but the Star Wars prequel explained some things about SW that weren't necessary like the midiclorians and it ended "ruining" them.

The Godfather Part III is a considerable disappointment considering it rounds out a trilogy wherein the first two movies are widely considered amongst the best ever made (arguably recognized as greater than any of the Star Wars movies).

If Lucas had "just" made a disappointing movie the comparison would be valid. He didnt make one. He made three and "upgraded" his previous movies while saturating us with too much Star Wars garbage to count. And the prequels werent solid movies that just couldnt come close to living up to the older ones...they were just flat out awful.
