After watching this I gotta say both Lucas and the fans are insane!

I love the original trilogy! I'll admit I don't mind the prequels but atleast I have dignity to put my foot down to not buy more Star Wars stuff. The fans excuse is that "I have to have it! It's Star Wars!" Bull$hit you don't! If you hate it don't own it. It's like getting married to someone you hate. It makes no damn sense! One of the fans even said that they needed to see Episode I 13 times just so they can realize that it sucks. Really??? It takes 13 viewings of a movie to realize it sucks.

As for Lucas he's a jerk not for making changes to Star Wars or for the prequels. It's because he refuses to release the original versions of the original trilogy.

That's just my 2 cents.

Thoughts?

That's odd. I have the original versions of the OT on DVD sitting on my shelf.

It's the fans who are driving Lucas insane while he is driving the fans insane. He didn't just make a film, he created a cultural phenomenon and, as the filmmakers state, a massive corporate empire. The problem with Star Wars is that the idea of them being films, which should be retained and preserved in their original state, is completely tossed out the window. Because, essentially, it is never done and the fans want it that way.

I'm not saying that Lucas isn't culpable for the destruction of his own films, but as Coppola so eloquently points out the tragedy of Star Wars is that it killed George Lucas the filmmaker. Lucas has been sitting on the Star Wars empire ever since and he has never truly been able to move on from Star Wars. That is the problem. Lucas can't let go of Star Wars, so he nitpicks.

I have them as well; they were released on DVD along with with the revised versions.

"What do you want me to do, draw a picture? Spell it out!"

But they were literally transfered to DVD, they weren't remasterised (sound + image) as the Enchanced Edition OT.
So, basically, you can watch the Original Trilogy, but only with the old picture and sound, which doesn't make sense, since the DVD should be better than VHS, if I'm not mistaken...
