I have just seen this little film

Me too. Was very impressed with the production standards considering it only cost 3 grand to make! Ok it wasn't perfect, what with the over-jacksonesque dialogue and direction, but was still entertaining enough and had some great locations. I was beginning to think maybe it was a fan film that took itself just that little bit too seriously, but the ending credits proved me wrong : )

I agree. I'm amazed at what they did on such a small budget. However, even ignoring how small the budget was, it was decent affair without any of those line- groaners like Eragon. Sometimes the dialogue appears a little too influenced by the previous affairs. But this is a tight little story that I would reccomend.

Well, I'm glad to read you two, guys... I saw it too and I sort of thought as if... betraying myself, because I feel like I need some time to chew it and form opinion. Some things were a blast, like the "meeting" of Strider and Arithir, some were... less of a blast. I realized some lines about growing shadow in the East and the like sounded incredibly dull and clichéd without some kind of build-up.

But nonetheless it was well spent 40 minutes. :)

Just checked it out and was stunned! FANTASTIC locations and shots. The dialogue was good, the acting great and the battle scenes were intense! Really really well done sword fighting and effects... how did they make this with only 3 grand????? Awesome.

The way they did it was this: no one was paid. The 3 grand (which, by the way is 3000 pounds, so it's actually around $4500) was for material they needed to buy. Likely they borrowed equipment. And with digital effects (which normally cost a lot), since nobody was paid, it didn't cost anything.

Even still, it's quite a marvel what they did with so little!

Very well done for a fan film indeed. Feels like we're moving towards an era of "open source" filmmaking. I do think it has its problems, but considering the remarkable achievement of getting this film made and how well it did turn out, they're almost not worth mentioning. 8/10, great job.

Agreed. I just watched it tonight and was hoping that it would, at least partially, live up to the quality of the trailers which have been excellent.

This is a very very nice film that actually has some wonderful cinematography in it, sound performances from the cast and production qualities that look shockingly high for the budget.

Very worth watching and a great example of what can be achieved with a modest (almost nothing) budget.

A must see for Tolkien fans.

good acting, good directing, nice costumes and locations, good musical score. I've seen big budget movies that don't look so good. Keep up the good work.
