Question about the Minions

They obviously have their own "language". How do they do that? Do the voice actors just mouth gibberish, or is there some pattern to it?

I imagine it's scripted. There are of course a couple of English words that pop up in their speech but I think the gibberish is mostly scripted because they all kind of sound alike (unless it's one voice actor doing them all).

I think the writers actually did invent their own minion language.

My Indonesian wife informs me that there is some bahasa Indonesia in there. Apparently, one of the script writers is either Indonesian or married to an Indonesian (so I’m told).
