Liked the first episode

Most of the actors are doing a very good job. I thought Aaron Eckhart as Gerald Ford was especially good. Not so much the guy who played Barack Obama.

reply

Ditto. Eckhart really surprised me. Guy playing Barack is doing a really bad vocal impression — not really acting.

reply

Found that the Barack actor started getting better in the second half of episode two, so hope it was just a case of needing time to inhabit the character and that it will be better from here on in.

Thanks for writing!

reply

Me too! In ep2 Michelle and Barack have become the fun we needed here and there, to balance out the serious heavy stuff.

reply

Yeah!
Has me wondering though if they're going to go into the way the Republican press heckled her for bringing her mother to live at the White House.

reply

Are you also watching the new Gaslit series about Watergate?

reply

No, that will be later. I’m waiting for all eps to drop before going back to Starz. (I have HBO Max right now for three more weeks.) I picked up Showtime, rather unexpectedly, because the 99 cents per month offer (for three months) was too great to pass up.

reply

Sounds well planned! Anyway, that show is pretty good too, if the first episode is indicative.

reply

I got Starz earlier than planned; I couldn’t resist the offer of $3/month for six months! The day my HBO Max subscription ended I picked up STARZ. Loving Gaslit.

reply

Very cool!
Though I had thought it was the Martha Mitchell story and now it seems to be becoming the John Dean story. Surprising bait and switch.

reply

After five eps imo it’s still very Martha forward, with the Deans a close second. I remember watching Watergate hearings on tv every day when I was a kid. I was so fascinated with the Deans, despite hating Watergate and all those involved.

The star of ep, though, is definitely Mrs. MacGruder. Damn, she is spunky!
