reply

I know the Mother is dark but I meant the ladies who are suppose to be hot, not that the mom isn't hot because she's black but u know what i mean :)

reply

yes, zoe and regina are hotter than the white girls who played the original characters.

Regina is not light skinned and Zoe is not that light. I do not consider them "light", someone like Alicia Keys, Paula Patton etc are light skinned.

reply

lol regina isnt light skinned? what planet are you on?

reply

No I didn't notice actually Zoe is latina so she probably has some white/native mixture in her.

reply

Her culture is Latina, but her race is Black. She is descended from African slaves who settled in the Domincan Republic, and considers herself black. There are plenty of black people in Latino countries.

Don't be so gullible. The issue is that the European male made sure his seed was mixed in along the way. How do you think slaves from West Africa looked three hundred years ago?

Most African-Americans have that linage.

reply

Why is everything always about race? it was a funny movie, the women in it were beautiful...who cares what color they were?

reply

There were no leading ladies in this movie. They were all supporting actresses. The lead was Chris Rock.

reply

OP, why are most black men in movies dark?

The hottest girl in the movie was darker skinned.

reply

This thread is too funny, Zoe and Regina are not light skinned. Perhaps they looked that way in dark dresses. As one other poster pointed, light skinned black women resemble LisaReye or Raven.

There's only really THREE leading ladies. Zoe Saldana, Loretta Devine and Regina Hall.
TWO of those women are NOT light skinned. Guess which ones. ZOE and LORETTA!!

I'm tired of black people getting so tied up in something so small as skin color, and calling every black person, regardless of their skin color, with silky hair LIGHT SKINNED. Dumb [expletive].

reply

Here's a better question: Why does the colour of anybody's skin matter?!

This is where the magic happens... and by "magic", I mean nothing.

reply

Why does the colour of anybody's skin matter?!<<<<<<<<

It's a European thing. They have issues about keeping their race pure.

reply

You do know Europe is a continent, right?

reply

this is a racist thread with a closeted racist as the OP..

- first off: why does the color matter?
- what does the tone matter?
- Regina and Zoe are both hot as hell - and what about it, if they're lighter than some others? the truth is that Gabrielle Union, Regina, Zoe, Halle Berry, Beyoncé are hotter than most actresses (both black and white)
- I happen to find mixed-race women more attractive than most whites or blacks - and yes, often they have a lighter complexion WGAF??

mixed-race rules and you know it!!

i own the original.
it's in english and it was made in 2007.

so...why?
remakes are usually made because people are too damn lazy to read subtitles...

reply

Just want to add this is the first time I've ever seen anybody mention Regina Hall as a light complexioned black woman. Usually it's just "damn she's fine" Gabrielle Union was the token black woman of Hollywood 6 years ago along with Halle so it's not really a skin tone thing.

Is is possible that Omar Epps is just a more talented actor than Boris Kodjoe?
Or Don Cheadle is more versatile than Terrance Howard?

reply

"don't tell me you didn't notice"

Why, no. No, I DIDN'T notice. Because some of us don't hold people's arms up against each other like carpet swatches and compare skin tones Seriously, what a racist thread!

reply

Actually, I didn't notice. What's the point?

And personally, I've never considered Regina to be "light skin". Zoe is a tad bit lighter than her.
