Same ol story. Bored bored bored.

Is girl possessed? Uhm ah uhm ah ... yes. Exorcise her. Done plus a few deaths here and there.

Seriously, very little has changed since The Exorcist. Are people ready to admit the demon-possession idea has passed its shelf-life?

They are all kind of the same, I'll give you that. But many zombie movies, superhero movies, romantic comedies, war movies, etc. are also very similar. It just depends if you like the formula or nor, which I do. I know how hard iii is to come up with a completely original idea these days because just about every subject you can think of has at least a hundred movies about it, so I don't demand originality any longer. All I ask is that it's good which I think this film was.

You're saying you've accepted low standards, admitted something of a defeat in expectation ... each to their own! I don't think the all genres and characters expire at the same rate though. To extend on your examples, I don't think there's equivalent mileage between, say, the character of batman and the character of the shark in jaws. One has more potential for depth than the other.

Seriously? This film and the Exorcist may have the same theme, but they're quite different. the Exorcist is a beautifully symbolic story about the inner demons that haunt a neglected child who's expected to be carefree and happy, the child's guilty and equally troubled mother, and most importantly a morally conflicted priest. Father Karras is resentful toward religion, and struggles with his faith, but he's still respectful towards it. Cotton on the other hand is a complete Athiest, who mocks religion and its followers as if he believes he superior toward them.

You didn't really put at the same level The Exorcist and that crap, did you?
