It looks like Disney took some notes from its 2019 Lion King and decided to make these lions look a bit more emotive when they are speaking. They were so focused on realism in the 2019 film that they decided to not give the facial expressions any emotion when the lions were speaking. This made the lions look lifeless and I’m glad they corrected this to an extent. Aslan (the Lion God) from Chronicles of Narnia still looks better though, despite being an older franchise.

I concur. The facial character expressions work so much better.

The animation is far better than the 2019 movie in terms of the characters’ facial expressions. I does make you wonder why they didn’t do it like this in the earlier movie.
