How did the bank robber end up on the road, clutching the backpack?

Well the 3 bank robbers' bodies were all over the place...one in the car, one outside of the car & one up on the road...so they had gotten tossed-about as the car swerved and went flying off the road. The one up on the road likely survived the crash & grabbed the backpack, tried to get back up to the road, but then died of his injuries. The "man in the woods" with the rifle ended up in the cougar's den, so keep in mind the cougar was dragging bodies around as well, going back to the scene for more meat.

if that is true, then why didnt he take the rest of the money in the boot?
