Plot hole

First of all, I don't start a thread about a plot hole with impunity but this is pretty glaring.

There is no way that he traveled down the river the way he did, going through rapids (indicating a significant decline in elevation) and then to a slower moving section with slow background music (indicating in movie speak a significant amount of time and travel) and then unknowingly crawl back to where the car was.

I suppose it is not completely impossible but he would have had to crawl for days in an upward direction to get back to where the car was. Why would he reverse his direction after he has been crawling downward to the river and then swept down the river to a significantly lower elevation?

It made no sense either that he crawled downhill from the car when the quickest way out would be to crawl upward to find a road. Cars don't end up crashed on the side of a mountain because they were driven up from below. Even in his deranged state he would have been able to figure that out.

Yeah I pretty much agree. Rapids or not, just going with the flow of the water would have taken him much farther. I have gone canoeing & even able-bodied people aren't able to do that, that's why you have a car pick you up at a landing point. A guy with broken legs, forget it.

It is pretty obvious, even to someone not familiar with the outdoors, that the car came down the ravine, and the road it came off of has GOT to be up. In fact it probably tore out a lot of the trees & stuff on the way down, and he could have just followed the path of destruction back up to the road. I guess Brody's character really had some serious head trauma & wasn't thinking very clearly. But if he was that bad, then he wouldn't have even really been crawling around much in the first place.

Another thing that indicates time passing is that his facial wounds clearly heal up somewhat. IRL he would have been so weak from injury, lack of food & water that he would never have had the energy to crawl anywhere, let alone up or down the ravine.

Totally agree with that. And what was with the cell phone. It basically went through a river and rain, not to mention hadn't been charged in I dunno days? It was clearly worthless after he got out of the river. But once he finally got up to the road the phone worked enough to power on?

yu can still use a cell phone to dial 911 even if the battery is run down. so that answers that.

And wasn't the car at the bottom of the ravine more or less level with the creek? So it is not as if he is crawling way UP to the get to the car.

I say this, because once he decided to climb out, he looked up saw blue sky and went for it. And he was standing next to the car when he decided. So the creek was probably only a little lower than where the car landed.

As for the cell phone, I thought it was impossible that he could take that phone thru water and then use it.
But Wikipedia explained the cell phone was taken off the dead guy in the cave. So he wasn't using a cell phone from the wreck after all.

He tried to climb uphill initially but it was too painful. He needed to become Plazzy (channel his inner killer) before he could make the extremely difficult climb up.
