Could it be shown at Cannes? (in competition)...as it has already been shown elswhere?

What chance is there of it being shown anywhere other than the BFI in UK?

I think there is a chance that this film will do the rounds in the UK. Artificial Eye are the company that produce DVDs of his films and enable them to have cinema releases. Some years ago I had the luxury of seeing Werkmeister Harmonies at a one off showing at a Vue cinema in Leeds. When The Man from London came out it took a long time before there was any hint of it coming to any cinema screens, but eventually it did. It played for a couple of weeks at an independent cinema in Leeds and then for a while at the National Media Museum in Bradford. I assume there was a limited number of prints that toured around the country and I wouldn't be surprised if the same happens with this film, so it may be a while before it hits a cinema near you, but there's a chance it will eventually.

Curzon Cinemas in London are affiliated to Artificial Eye. They once held an interview with Bela Tarr, so it looks as though AE support his work quite a bit. I'm no longer in the UK and I fear my chances of seeing this at the cinema are getting slimmer. However, at the moment there's no mention of The Turin Horse on Artificial Eye's website, so it may be worth contacting them. Their website is here: http://www.artificial-eye.com/home.php

I don't have any precise information about the UK release date, but I am fairly sure it will be released sooner or later. Almost all of Tarr Béla's films have gained worldwide critical acclaim, so it would be weird if they didn't show it in the UK, at least in some art cinemas. If it gets released, I strongly advise you to go and see it as soon as possible, as it's an extraordinary experience, which cannot be described by words. I am proud of being a hungarian partly due to this film.
