So we find out the one who got away is the brother and son of the goth girl and the cop but where is he? If he caused the accident at the beginning, he was not hit. He was just standing in the middle of the road. Surely someone would have found him wandering or even if he died, the body. Did I miss something?

No, he's not in the pit. Lola would know it, obviously, and she said she lost track of him. Since in his zombie-like state he could not exactly have remade his life, the only possible explanation is that he drifted into the woods and eventually died there without ever being found.

He was lobotomised however what surprises me is that after the car accident they didn't launch a full-scale search, because wouldn't Brent have mentioned seeing him? I assume, like others on this board, he wandered off into the desert and died.
