Not so much robot brain as much as hamster on a wheel... that had apparently fallen asleep for a second there. ;-)
Rod was way ahead of everyone else. He paused for so long because he was anticipating that the seaweed would not satisfy the children, but he should nevertheless put on a brave face and accept the seaweed in the hopes that the children would do the same and not think about Happy Meals.
