wow, this was awesome

what a great first episode, didnt expect it to be this good

Are the special effects and CGI good? Do you understand why the critics hate it?

reply

Half the critics gave it 70-90 on Metacritic. Ignore RT.

I have questions. I have always had questions about Skrulls:

Having them immune to radiation is a "thing" that I suppose enables them to manipulate matter/energy for clothes or other things that they have in their possession? Or is it an illusion?

1. Do the non-host victims need to remain alive for the Skrulls who copy them to maintain the memory connection?
2. It takes a lot of resources and technology to build all of the human containment pods that keep them in quasi-stasis. How do the humans stay alive? What are they using for nourishment? Where do the Skrulls get all of the materials do that? Did anyone think "The Matrix" when they saw the containment units?
3. Are there side-effects for remaining in human form for long periods of time?
4. Given the number of Skrulls that are on Earth now how did they all get there and where are their ships?
5. They live a couple of hundred years as compared to humans but do they also have more offspring?

Username does NOT check out. :P

Sorry. Couldn’t resist. :D

reply

My username does pass the pre-Galactus litmus test quite well.

Do you think me a Skrull? 🤔

reply

Dang. I ran out of those litmus strips months ago and they’re on back order. Had to use the new ones.

I don’t think of you as Krull.

reply

Try again. I am not NOT a Krull nor a Skrull!

It is so trying to disprove a negative. Not that there is anything wrong in being a Skrull or a Krull (Prussian Nobility).

reply

You just Glaive me reason to suspect you a Skrull as Krull.

I vaguely remember a Glaive reference from something, but it escapes me at this moment, Guardians?

Guyver with Mark Hamill? No. I am just posturing with that one. Blue Beetle vibes.

NorrinRad versus Norrin Radd? Perhaps, perchance?

reply

The Glaive was the switchbladed giant five pointed throwing star-type weapon from the movie Krull (1983) that iirc shot power beams instead of cutting/puncturing anyone, much like He-Man’s sword. The early 80s must have been when the push to blame real-world violence on entertainment really took a foothold.

I’m gonna lose a bunch of comic nerd cred now: Krull, although I had the comic adaptation, not only was a movie first, but was the name of the planet, not the hero. I was getting that name mixed up with Kull the Conqueror/Destroyer. *hangs head

reply

I thought you meant Kull the movie also. So you COMPLETELY through me off unintentionally with Krull seemingly out of context.

No harm, no foul. I am still in left field as to everything else. 🤓🤓

reply

I suppose losing nerd cred is kind of like Norm MacDonald’s jokes about alcoholism/gambling addiction being the “best” diseases to have…

Yeah, but did they really need to kill Maria Hill??? She was one of my favorite supporting characters. And then in Ep 2, Fury's just like: "Oh well that sucks... so about all those other Skrulls." Didn't even yell at Talos for pulling him out when he might have been able to get her to definitive care. Makes exactly ZERO sense given all they shared and she was his right hand.

reply

Coby Smulders is way beyond her prime and was no longer bringing the required bacon. The show is aimed at young adults, mind you.

reply

The answer to Fury's reaction is that THIS Fury is damaged. Extremely damaged, to the exact point that Maria Hill expressed to him. He is going to get hurt and so will others.

Fury left Hill on Earth and DIDN'T take any calls or messages for YEARS!
