This may be a stupid question...

Mind you, I'm not complaining. I absolutely *love* dogs, and I'm glad Reggie is in this one, but...

Didn't Reggie pass away in the last one? Or am I remembering wrong? It's been a while since I saw it, so I honestly can't recall for certain. I don't know the correct chronology of the 'episodes', so perhaps this one goes back to before Reggie passed away?

Stone initially had a beautiful hound which he had the town pediatrician put down due to kidney disease. He then adopted Reggie, I believe from a villain or villains from one of the films. I don't recall Reggie dying in Thin Ice, I could be wrong but don't think so.

Stone had a dog named Boomer in LA. He brought Boomer to Paradise, Mass. and Boomer had to be put to sleep. Thatwas in the film Stone Cold. In the next one Jesse meets Reggie by the ocean. Reggie was with his dead master who was killed by the Lincolns. Reggie then lives with Jesse although he did kind of give him a way in Death in Paradise but had him in the next film.

Oddly enough Jesse never had a dog in the Robert B. Parker books but I think the relationship between Jesse and his dogs makes the series that much more enjoyable.

Me too. That's probably why the dogs were added. I wonder whose idea it was? It was a good choice.

Thank you both for your response. I was wondering if I had lost my mind. I was probably just mixing up stuff from a couple different 'episodes'.

As I recall, in the last Jesse Stone story just prior to this one, we see Reggie riding in a bus with Jesse to New Mexico after he has been put on probation by the Paradise town council.

Reggie was so cute, sitting up tall and proud in that bus seat. I have a golden retriever, every bit as pretty but nowhere nearly as well-behaved or sensitive to my moods as Reggie!
