Well Burroughs knew Kammerer and even though Carr made it seem like Kammerer was just a stalker there was more to it then that, they were at least drinking buddies.
Yes, yes indeed. I love Daniel, but I am also looking forward to the rest of the casts performances as well as Dans. I cannot wait to see how well they make this movie.

I wouldn't mind that myself honestly, but thats ok, they would more then likely be in costume and not themselves. I hear Dan might get a jewfro for the movie.

Burrough's did seem to feel like either Carr was an incredible prick tease or Kammerer was really delusional. It almost seemed like Carr was possibly running away from Kammerer because he was actually afraid he was gay but didn't want to be. Did Carr kill the man he loved?
I know I am excited. I wish Daniel would stop being all mysterious with his projects coming up. He said he has looksed through many scripts, but wont tell us what he is up to next and I just can't wait.

Really, because when I read And The Hippos Were Boiled In Their Tanks. Burroughs and Kerouac changed everyone's name but from what I could make out, Ginsberg was not with them all that much.
When I had first read about the story, many years ago, I was under the impression that Ginsberg actually helped Carr get rid of the body but in the last few months...it seems that Kerouac was more Carr's partner in crime...so I assumed my memory was wrong.
The film is more focused on Ginsberg when he first met Carr, then fell in love with him. The murder is in there of course (it threads through the whole thing), but Kerouac doesn't feature a huge amount and Burroughs (from what I recall) is barely in it.
Where could I find the script? I'm a Michael C. Hall fan, so I am more interested in Kammerer. I didn't remember that Ginsberg had a crush on Carr...I guess he was always a sucker for a pretty face.
In the book it seemed like Burrough's thought Carr was nothing but trouble.
No this is not to the other KYD film. this script is for the 2013 film because it is written by John Krokidas, Austin Bunn. John Krokidas will direct this new one. The summarys are different aswell for the 2006 one is about one writer who goes on a road trip with a few other people and it's supposed to be a little comicial. This one is a thriller about 3 writers and the murder of David Kammerer. "Chill broseph, I like Mountain Dew and big butts!” DanRad
No problem. It certaintly is a really good read. Though honestly some things went a little over my head the first time reading them I had to back track and read them again, but I still liked it a lot.

Did you watch that video of the director talking about the movie. He talks about how Ben foster started out in Character when the director called him about the part. Not defending him, don't really know much about Ben Foster. Like you said he could turn out MVP....
Thanks for the link. So Ben Foster "nails" his role as Burroughs? Happy to hear I'm wrong about Foster.
The director sounded excited when the casting was done and the actors immediately formed a camaraderie. It will be good for the movie since those Beat guys formed a tight bond.
OMG I just read the script, this is oscar material !!!Actors have to pull this out the best the could Holy *beep* I'm just amazed 2 hours of reading it....!!

Thats what I was thinking myself as well, but like you said the actors really have to pull it off. Honestly I really don't care if they do win oscars or not I just hope they do a really good job and the movie itself does well.

I was with mouth opened at the end ,and i was like "What the *beep* did I just read" I think the blowjob thing in the script is necessary ,the poems are beautiful i wasn't really interested in this even me as fan of Daniel but when i read it i thought it was the most beautiful thing i read.
^ this exactly. It's a little gritty and because of some of it's themes people might get their panties all in a bunch but it is pretty deep and interesting. I hope it turns out well, because they could mess it up within a heart beat. I cannot wait untill they start filming this next week or so and we start getting pictures from set to see where they are going with it. This is going to be exciting.

This is a great article and it makes it seem like Kammerer was a very interesting, educated and charasmatic person. How could his part be limited to the idea of some old queen with a crush? I hope the screenplay is more honest about him. Otherwise...it won't be fair. Carr should be shown as the murderer, he was.

I agree with this. When I was reading the the script the part at the end had me a bit flabbergasted. Alan is visiting Carr in jail, Carr seemed to have no reguard for Alans feelings nor any remorse for killing Kammerer. He just wanted to use Alan to get him off for the murder, by having him write up some Bogus story about Kammerer being gay and that Carr killed him because he was trying to force himself upon him. Alan being gay himself was upset by this. He really wanted Carr to tell the truth and he did not want to write a story about homosexuality being wrong. He does end up writing something for Carr and gives it to him in jail, Carr reads it says it would ruin him and that Alan should not turn it in. I think Alan treats him kind of like the dog he is. He leaves Carr there begging in his cell and though he did not turn the paper in to the authorities he did turn it in to his professor, causing him to get expelled from school. I think in the end it states that Carr pleaded guilty for the murder of David Kammerer. it's in a little more detail then that, if you read the script link a gave you, you could read the rest of it if you like. But you really feel for Alan in that instant, atleast I did and hate Carr for trying to push a group of people {gays} under the bus so he could get off taking a mans life.
Also in the script although it does make Kammerer out to be a creeper it also shows Carr in a disgusting way as well, at least in my opinion. Carr comes off as some what of a fraud because he never writes his own essays for class, Kammerer always did. He also came off as promiscuous, someone who used people and like I basically said above, someone who really only has reguards for himself and his own life. Now I don't know what they will change, if they change anything at all so it may be different when the movie comes out. Here is to hoping Carr gets the treatment he deserves.

So Ginsberg is the main character? I know he was really young. It will be interesting to see how Daniel plays him. The murder took place in summer, I think. Since I haven't seen the script, I don't know when they pick up the story or if they do it in flash backs? Anyway, interesting people and a sad story. I still believe Carr was simply a sociopath and killed Kammerer because he was angry with him.
"It is getting so hard in the studio culture to take a chance on voices that are unique, to tell stories that you haven't seen a million times before," said director John Krokidas after the screening, thanking his benefactor, investor Michael Benaroya.
Benaroya, who fully financed the film, is one of the indie world's latest wealthy young bucks willing to take a chance on a risky story. But even on a tight 24-day shoot, the high-end cast was on board quickly, including Ben Foster as Burroughs and Jack Huston as Kerouac.
The project started with Radcliffe envisioned as the young Ginsberg. DeHaan ("Lincoln," HBO's "In Treatment") landed the part within five minutes of his audition, Radcliffe said. "No one else had a chance" after that, he observed.
Hall said he auditioned and then, "I looked the director in the eye, and I said, 'Don't be an idiot, give me this part.'"
LOL @ Hall demanding he be cast in this movie.
