Who else here besides me?

that hates this movie but loves Rob Zombie's first Halloween (2007) movie??

Me. I mean there were elements I liked, such as the returning Scout, Danielle and introducing Angela Trimbur and adding Brea. And let's not forget Brad's performance, but there was a lot not to like. The white horse as an excuse to add his wife to another film, the destruction of Loomis, Michael unmasked, speaking.

It's like Rob didn't care, made it his way just to mess with people. It worked. He acted like he didn't want to make it and it showed. Still my least favorite and that's saying a lot.

Danielle lying naked in blood in the same pose as the first movie felt like a bad joke. Like seriously?? Its creepy enough that she's Myers little niece from the H4 and H5 movies. Then when she dies, Zombie does a weird creepy flashback home video footage of her as a kid. wtf?? Pedo much?

Me. I don't exactly hate it because there are some good parts in this film, but after I first saw it in theaters opening day, I left extremely disappointed. I was beyond hyped when I heard Rob was doing another Halloween, because his first Halloween was what got me into horror films, and the entire Halloween franchise. Sadly, after the opening (which was excellent by the way), the whole film went downhill.

Don't you know history repeats itself? Hmm Sid?- Scream 2

reply

I actually hated the first one but loved part II.

reply

Yes. I also preferred the second. The first one was too white trash for me and Michael's teleporting back and forth between locations without rhyme and reason kinde ruined it for me. Zombie made this one his own. And really, what would be the point in just redoing what have been done before?

reply

I actually loved both of them. Prefer H2 though (darker and more brutal than Zombie's first, and I liked how the film tried to do something different with the Halloween formula).

Holy *beep* dude, don't let Dave626 hear you say that! He is the one and only expert on the entire franchise, and his opinion is the right (and oft-repeated) one (much sarcasm).

reply

Too late. And I read your post as well, which up until this point, I actually respected you. Oops. So your opinion is no more or less valid than mine, but I like to also deal in facts. Having seen these movies since I was 11, I've had over 30 years of experience and have seen and read a lot in that time to shape my opinion. Which is why I've managed to stay around for the last 14 years here. As for my oft repeated stance, 1. New people come on here all the time spouting the same uninformed, uncouth (see what I did there?) opinion and need to be informed of the facts. Respectfully. I don't like repeating myself, but since people are too lazy to go through the board history or it gets deleted, then there's no choice.

2. At least my stance remains consistent. As does my account. Unlike some people who hide behind socks and have to re-up, say, every 5 years or so, I remain the same. I've softened a little on movies, but I've also gotten more strict. I'm complicated like that. Fact is, what I think is just as valid as anyone else, if you don't like it, ignore me. I don't care. But I will not be disrespected.

I'm not new here dave, so that part of your point is invalid. And I was actually joking, you take these boards way too seriously. Lighten up, dude. I actually look for your posts when I see a ridiculous thread title, but you do tend to repeat yourself a lot. I also tend to agree with you 99% of the time, but I like to kid around, so if you find that as disrespectful, then sorry. It's my brand of humor, but I don't get mean about it. So, continue posting, I'll continue reading, but I think I'll just go back to zero interaction.

Up to you. I did see the sarcasm and honestly, if I was in a better place with my physical health, I might have been okay with it, but I'm not. I don't like to get personal on the boards, but I do have a life outside of them and when I come here and see people dissing me, even sarcastically, I don't need the grief. You could've worded it better or been a better person about it and overlooked it, as many of the long timers do.

Also, in case you hadn't noticed, I've had my fair share of impersonators, something you haven't had to deal with, attacks by other board trolls like Sparky, Jingles, fake cjs, etc. So I'm a little touchy about who is who and why they are even mentioning me. As I said, if it bothers you that much, ignore me. But don't go to other posters who I converse with and bad mouth me to them. I like to keep it civil and maintain a certain reputation. I like making friends and connections and don't need interference in that.

Hope you can understand what I'm trying to say. I come to the boards to escape my problems and distract myself with Halloween discussions. I don't need more grief or problems here or anywhere. So just keep that in mind when you badmouth someone like that, it's bound to not go over well.

Seriously, you are taking this way too much to heart. What I said wasn't even that harsh, just a poke at how knowledgeable you are about these movies. I too have a good amount of knowledge about them, I'm a Halloween junkie. I'm not a troll, I just read here more than I post. I prefer learning over debating. And I have all the cjs on ignore because that assh@t brings nothing to the party but pure obtuseness and abuse. Again, I apologize, but ya gotta chill dude. It's an Internet board. Don't take the bs personally, because your knowledge speaks for itself.

That's all I'm going to say about this subject, I'm gonna go back to reading instead of posting. I guess I'm just not easily offended when people "badmouth" me. I don't care, cause these people are nothing to me. Hope your physical problems get better, have a happy Halloween!

reply

Thanks. I appreciate you at least taking the time to talk it out. That helps and earns you some respect in my eyes, if that matters or not. Board or not, these are real people posting with real thoughts and real feelings. That should always be taken into account and while it's okay to poke fun, have fun, it's also a good idea to keep in mind who you're dealing with. It's a big world out there with big problems globally and individually. I like to look at things and people in depth and see all the angles. Just the way I'm made. I treat people on boards like I do in real life. Easier that way. Stay myself and don't have to act or remember anything. Keeping it real. Take care of yourself.
