The Kid Who Played Young Michael.

I did not like the kid who played young Michael in this movie. I understand why Daeg Faerch couldn't reprise his role, having hit puberty and not being able to pass as a 10 year old, but this kid... noooo. he talks too much to be a young Michael. I just didn't think he was right for the role.

your opinion is respected and duly noted, BUT.

how could Laurie imagine young Michael if she'd never met him before? ? she only learned about her true self that very same day...
Next, talking has a lot to do with playing a serial killer in a horror movie. maybe it's because I thought Daeg did the greatest job ever, but he talked very minimally, which made him terrifying.
nothing about this new kid is terrifying. he screams toddler gymnastics, 25 cent lemonade stands, and cheeks old ladies want to pinch... not psycho serial killer. ?

you're right. that does make sense for her to only just imagine what he'd be like. now that you put it that way. well thought out.

reply

Well, they couldn't bring back Daeg. He had a growth spurt and was supposed to play the same person/size/age. So they went with a similar look. She imagines Michael because much like her picture in that book she pointed out, his is in there as well. Probably a picture of Vanek, the new Michael. Problem solved.

It wasn't her, she didn't kill anyone and it's ridiculous to think a less than 100 lb. woman teenager could pull off brutality against grown men with her bare hands and feet. Wasn't in her head either, as people were still dead.

I iust thought about something. you know at some point someone's going to want to remake Halloween again in some other twisted way, so you know what would be friggin legendary? if they brought back Daeg and cast him as adult Michael. dudes like 6' ft now. we know he's got the mannerisms to make it happen. that would be awesome.

reply

Let's hope not. One remake is good enough. Or bad enough, depending. I hope they keep with the idea of Returns and have it connect to the first 2.

haha either way. he'd be a great adult Michael.

That makes a lot of sense. The only thing that doesn't fit is that the same actor plays Michael in that video clip Loomis shows his audience. A minor quibble though, since none of the Loomis scenes in this movie are watchable.

I agree, I didn't like this kid, to bad the other kid couldn't do it, I understand why.

I only watched it once in theaters and didn't know the reason behind it until the DVD came out. Faerch had a growth spurt for a kid who should've looked like he was a lot younger and smaller. Nobody's fault. Probably another reason Danielle Harris didn't do Curse, because she looks so little even now and to have her pregnant and give birth that tiny makes it even creepier. At least Brandy looked old enough to have a kid.

That's one of my main gripes about Halloween 6.
Those movies are dated real time. Halloween 1 & 2: 1978
Halloween 4: Takes place in 1988. Halloween 5 took place in 1989. Halloween 6: 1995.
In real life, Danielle Harris (born 1977) was 11 yrs old in 1988, but she was playing a 9 year old.
So in Halloween 6, Jamie Strode/Myers is supposed to be 16...with a baby (who's baby again? Michael's? Incest? really?). Its obviously they forced that plot of her 'growing up' to 'have a child' way earlier than need be.

While in real life , 5' tall Danielle Harris (who is now 39 in 2016), was 18 yrs old in 1995 when Halloween 6 was released. She didn't do any movies in 1995 at age 18, but if you watch the movie Wish Upon A Star in 1996 with Katherine Heigl, Danielle is costarring in that movie at age 19 if you want a sort of visual reference as to what she would of looked like at 18 back then.

Looks really young still but really I think its just the height

Therefore I'm not sure why they didn't cast Danielle Harris to return in Halloween 6, unless she still visually looked like a little kid while still being legal age of 18.
Obviously the taboo idea of a kidnapped 16 yr old molested at 15 and having a kid at 16 with (her uncle?) was bad enough; god forbid they put an actress on the screen people still had in their minds as a little 9/10 yr old girl just 6 yrs earlier that probably still looked really young for 18 and she's only 5' tall dont forget.

Even Rob Zombie putting in Danielle Harris in the remake felt uncomfortable for many fans as she was running around naked in it having sex and being slashed; not to mention the sequel...

J.C. Brandy, who took the role of Jamie Lloyd from Danielle Harris in Halloween 6, was born 1975, so she was 2 years older than Danielle Harris and therefore was 20 in 1995, playing a 16 yr old Jamie Lloyd with a baby.

This also means Danielle Harris was 30 yrs old in RZ's Halloween in 2007, playing a 17 yr old.
Which sounds dumb as hell, but remember, in Hollywood, casting 30 yr olds as teenagers is a long running tradition no matter how stupid it is lol (Beverly Hills 90210, Amazing Spider-Man, Dumb and Dumberer, etc)

Danielle didn't want to 6. She felt she wasn't being paid enough, even though her first 20 minutes were scale pay. It's not like she was the star. The other issue is what happened to the character, impregnated, murdered, in either cut (I'm guessing she read the Producer's Cut script). So, like Ellie in 5, she didn't care for her death scene. Ellie changed their minds. They changed Jamie's death, but after Danielle departed and it still probably wouldn't have suited her.

Casting older people to play younger parts is wise, in a sense, in this case it's less creepy, though given her appearance in 4 and 5, it makes it a little creepy seeing a former child actress naked. But at least she was legal and consented to it.

So that's why 6 was the way it was. I guess Danielle wanted a better "send off" or a gift to the fans being Annie in the last two films.

Interesting, I preferred this kid light years over the kid in H1.
