I say may because you obviously didn't pick up the sarcasm in my last post, so even giving you a direct link now may not be enough help.

So clever, it hurts. Not really.

I ask, Why bother with the sarcasm? Was it really necessary? Why write those arrogant comments, putting down another contributor simply because they don't hover over the IMDB news day and night to pick up a piece of news? Why not simply offer information in a spirit of goodwill and be done wit it?

I can think of no charitable answer, so I will simply thank you for the link you provided.

reply

Agreed, why post such a dismal response to another contributor who will also miss V?

Its a shame that the show has been cancelled just as Marc Singer returns, but it always had the problem of its scripts being repetitive, going nowhere and the plot developing far too slowly. They should have introduced the Marc Singer Org (?) at the start of this season.

reply

This has genuinely p!ssed me off.

Season 1 was a little slow, stuck with it.

Season 2 IMO was brilliant & last episode Mike Donovan (or whatever his new name is) appears, I was thirsty for more... I thought it was really beginning to find it's footing.

Now cancelled!

Is it possible another station could buy the rights and continue, or is that completely off-limits? (I'm not sure how TV works in the United States?)

This is why I hate watching tv shows... These greedy bastards can't even give us an ending..

I remember I loved the 4400 and they just cancel it before an end.

Well said J-C. I too have been on the receiving end of some nasty replies because, as you say I "did not hover." I will just mention that his/her user name seems very apt, considering the content of the reply.

This is the only canceled show I'll miss. It didn't take itself too seriously and was consistently entertaining.

I won't miss Tyler, though...

V had decent rating but they weren't fantastic. It does seem with show that are expensive to produce like V you need to have extraordinary rating to stay on the air. Other shows like Caprica and SGU which are expensive to make and had only decent rating ended up being canceled. If we had a good economy right now all of these shows would be getting ready for next season.

reply

V cancelled
Caprica cancelled
SGU cancelled
Human Target cancelled
No ordinary family cancelled

and:

Walking Dead
Good Guys
Smallville
Warehouse 13
Eureka
Fringe
Undercovers
Haven
Leverage

Most of those are either cancelled or on permanent hiatus.

The TV show producers TV/Networks are stealing our time... our lives in effect (our time is our life)... only to cut it short... leaving us with a bad taste in the mouth, stories without an end and a complete disappointment.

The networks should be sued and forced to run the series, regardless of the ratings. Even if the series were broadcast in the middle of the night, it would be fine. They still make money on the series, but the problem is that they want MORE money... so they continue to make mentally deranged shows like friends, two and a half men, housewifes, gilmour girls etc, that have no story, no meaning, nothing that forces people to think... just pure brain-crap for a public that consists of brain damaged home going teenagers and unemployed wankers who can't figure out how to eat with a knife and a fork.

Boycott the networks... watch whatever material they have broadcast, on streaming download sites... that way, the networks will not be making any money on advertising... and that is a good thing, since they won't be making any good series anyway.

Fight them in a way that will hurt them. Don't watch them on TV or through their own websites.

reply

Walking Dead is confirmed, coming back in October 2011. Their ratings were through the roof. The season 2 scripts have been finalized and shooting starts in a couple of weeks.

reply

The Walking Dead is coming back.... Dallas... with zombies

Meaning? it's like a soap opera with zombies. It's not an action thriller show with zombies. And the finale to season one is one of THE worst finales I have ever seen. So anti-climactic in the extreme it was.

Eureka starts it's new season on July 11th.

reply

Having just watched the S2 finale last night I have to admit, that despite that dubious writing, I am disappointed its cancelled. It was definitely a step up from S1, although I personally feel that since the ratings were so crap in the US and the network reduced the season by two episodes this was the ultimate downfall as the last couple of episodes felt way too rushed, and in particualr the three deaths seemed forced.

As major lover of the original, it was great having Jane Badler return although pity she was relegated to the dungeon for 95% of her screen time, and Marc Singer, however so briefly. Shame we'll never see Faye Grant in it now.

But overall as another poster has mentioned, it's a welcome change to see the bad guys win, which might have not been the producers final intention, but as its now cancelled its how it is.

reply

The cancellation of V after the way season 2 ended is yet again another massive insult to all those people who have been faithfully watching the show for 2 years.

They obviously don't care about any of us.. at least not enough to give us some proper closure.

They could at least give us a special 2 hours episode to wrap things up, couldn't they?

reply

I am sick and tired of hearing people bitch and moan about wanting closure on this!. The show has closure. The ending is not a proper cliff hanger ending. It's a decent enough ending. It ends like a John Carpenter movie would have ended back in the 1980s. You can make your own mind up as to what happens next. It would seem that this is too hard a thing to do for the brain dead masses of today. There is no need to spoon feed people more detail. It's dull and boring and predictable. And I don't know about you but I hate dull and boring and predictable endings.

And with that being said I shall end this post with... ANNA WON!. V IS DONE!.

"What we gotta do is we gotta snag that tall dude and stomp the sh!t out of him!."

reply

What are you talking about?

Fringe has been renewed and that was a month ago
walking dead was renewed literally right after the finale of the series
warehouse 13 is coming back this july
so is eureka (they cut season 4 in two parts and they have a 5th season coming up)
smallville has been on air for nearly 10 years
leverage has been renewed and it airs in june
haven has been renewed and starting in july like a lot of sy fy shows

so in reality

smallville canceled because it reached its' end
good guys got canceled

undercovers are the only one on hiatus

reply

I hate American network bosses, they always do this to me!
I love "V" just like I loved "Invasion" and both got cancelled.
Im absolutley devastated and my girlfriend will be when I tell her the bad news in the morning.
The double-bill season two finale is on on Thursday.
I literally just found out an hour ago because some irritating guy called Cash Peters was being interviewed on the radio at about 2.30am and he was going on about shows in America being cancelled and when he mentioned "V" I nearly crashed my truck!
I dont think Im ever gonna watch another big blockbuster American TV show, theres no point if they only get cancelled as it starts getting good.
Im gonna need something to fill the void now, might start smoking crack or injecting heroin... I hope ABC can live with that.

reply

So I guess non-US networks keeps shows that have low viewership and don't produce enough profit to pay for the show?

I loved V (and Human Target) and wish they had another season coming but I don't blame the networks for not keeping an unprofitable show going.

reply

@patbutcher

yah, i was peeved for the canceling of both shows myself, i loved Invasion... but at least the creator of the show gave a statement on what was going to happen, gave a bit of closure to it, i hope the same thing happens with V

@jackiebrown

they don't always drop shows for doing poorly though, sometimes they just think something else might be more profitable... for example, if my memory serves me right ABC canceled Invasion just because they wanted to try putting new shows into it's time slot for the next fall season... instead of trying to move the show they just canceled it for no good reason and again if i remember it had the next best ratings on ABC after LOST

reply

I sure as hell will miss this little gem of a show, and so will even the haters on this board (even though they won't admit it)!

reply

I found out it was cancel when I watch TV the other day. As soon as I heard, I call my friend who then cry.

reply

ha yea government...

but seriously... Man it sucks they axed it

reply

also cancelled...

The Defenders (Jerry O'Connell, Jim Belushi)
Mad Love
$#!% My Dad Says (William Shatner)
Better With You
Off the Map
Mr. Sunshine
Outsourced - this one bothers me the most, it had a strong spot after The Offic, then NBC crammed the failing Parks & Recreation and 30 Rock in between Office and Outsourced thus pushing Outsourced so late in the night, nobody would watch it after losing interest being force-fed the crapfest and pre-cancelled P&R

reply

So I just saw the list of cancelled shows and saw V along with a few others I was enjoying (Lie to Me, Defenders, Chicago Code) my question is how does season 2 finish, is it a cliffhanger or did they have a feeling they were going to get cancelled and tried to wrap some stories up?

I watched all of Flashforward only to see it get the chop, I don't really want to do that again and would happily delete the show from my Sky Box if it's only going to lead to disappointment.

Or should I keep the recordings for a while to see if another network buys the rights?

reply

The ending is only a cliffhanger if you care about the human characters. If you don't then it's not. The producer or whatever assumed that they would have 22 episodes in season 2, who knows why, then ABC reduced the order from 13 to 10 and he was left scrambling around trying to fit his 22 episode story arc into 10 episodes.

This is still hilarious to me. How could he have ever assumed that ABC would give him a full 22 episode season? Weren't the bad ratings at the end of season 1 and the midseason premiere date big enough of a hint that he would get 13 episodes to work with at the most?

The guy obviously has one hell of an ego is all I can think. Probably one of those people who are always positive thinking and casting out negativity. It would be negative to think he wasn't going to get 22 episodes. The law of attraction and all that nonsense. Of course even with that stuff there was no reason not to have two story arcs - one of 13 episode and another of 9 episodes.

And that's what's so ironic about it. I still remember that the first showrunners had tentpole events for the first 13 episodes and if the network had decided to order a back 9, they would have had a plan for that too. I don't get why Rosenbaum didn't adopt that approach. That surely must have been an ego thing too.
