For those who think the chaperones should be blamed...

What, exactly, did you want them to be doing? Should they have been watching each and every one of those ADULTS every second they were in Aruba? Maybe a chaperone should have been in every hotel room too? And what were the chaperones supposed to do? Tell the adults they could not drink, even though it was legal while they were in Aruba (and the parents were told this)? If they stepped out of line, what should have been the consequence? They were all 18, and had graduated already.

EVERYONE on that trip was 18?! Cuz when I graduated high school, there were a fair # of people that had summer birthdays and went to kindergarten when they were 4.

I am pretty sure that it was said in the movie that the ones going on the trip were all 18, and that was the drinking age in Aruba.

Either way, what were the chaperones supposed to do? They had no real authority on the trip. And the parents were told they were not going to supervise.

most if not all those students were eligible for the army and such by their age here in the u.s. its not a chaperones job to babysit they just have to make sure the trip goes as planned
