Spoilers*I don't think I've ever seen a moment in film...

...quite like the end, where they're both looking at each other, and the asteroid hits, I have never felt so connected with how a movie character felt. My heart sank when I saw that moment, it was amazing how well they did that scene. Maybe it's just me, but it really set a dark, yet beautiful tone for me

There's always money in the banana stand.

It was very touching. It felt real.

I bawled like a baby.. to this day i still don't understand how ti had such an effect on me..

reply

This is me right now. I just finished this movie for the first time and I just lost it. Just really connected and watching them was beautifully heartbreaking.

reply

Okay, I'll confess. I bawled like a baby, rewatched the movie the next night, and bawled like a baby again.

reply

It seemed over the top to me.
But it was a cute flick.

I was expecting there to be some kind of twist ending like the asteroid would miss and it would end happy, but nope. In retrospect the apocalypse ending is more fitting but it did strike a chord.

reply

I was also expecting and hoping there would be the lame 'the world is saved' twist, but I'm glad there wasn't.
I cried, not going to lie, hell I still cry at that scene. That one and when she comes back to her apartment and asks him how he could let her go.

You can call me 'Mayor Chapstick.'

There's another movie with a similar theme, I can't remember the title off hand, but the movie ended similarly. To be honest this was very reminiscent of that scene. I'm glad it ended the way it did. It was very fitting and very sweet, and kind of like he'd said, it couldn't have happened any other way.

reply

The movie you're thinking of is Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.

Anyone here mentions Hotel California dies before the first line clears his lips.

reply

Not sure if serious...

Sarah Connor?

Melancholia?

.

reply

Is it These Final Hours (2013)? Watch it if you haven't. Highly recommended.

...a little fantastic, and fleeting, and out of reach.

reply

Meloncholia? This was like a comedy-ish, nicer version of that lol.

reply

Maybe you're thinking about "Miracle Mile"

reply

On the Beach (2000)? Similar theme.

Also features almost the exact same ending scene, featuring a family with a dog.

reply

I wonder how you would feel about These Final Hours.

reply

It was done well. I was so in anticipation of what was going to happen. Her last smile as everything faded into mist. Lovely.

reply

Same. I believe all I said for a while after it ended was, "Wow." <3

reply

That ending felt reminiscent of two earlier apocalyptic films, "Miracle Mile" (1988) and "Last Night" (1998). I thought both of those films were edgier and more genuine than "Seeking a Friend".
