You are all certainly entitled to your opionion, but think about this:
Actors are doing just THAT---acting a part, NOT portraying themselves. It's the character that you find annoying; and, as I say, you are welcome to feel that way. Just don't characterize Miss Knightley as being like Penny.
Besides, have you seen this girl in a bikini?!?!?! HAWT!!!! Great legs, body, and a**. Well, OK, a bit small-breasted; but, I must confess I'm a leg man!

It's not really pointless. It's actually a very good point. A lot of people on here tend to not understand what acting really is. A lot of the time people will say an actor was bad when they simply didn't like the character. You can't judge the actor on the type of character he/she is portraying, you judge the actor on how well he/she portrayed the character as it was written.

I agree. Also...if you don't like a character, it generally means the actor has done a good job of portraying that person - not necessarily to make them unlikable, but to make them real to the point that one has feelings about them. And I don't think you can possibly judge whether an actor is a good or bad one on the basis of one character portrayal. It takes a range of roles to show what the actor is capable of. But even then, other factors can influence how well an actor is able to manage, especially in film. How many times have we said, "She did the best she could with the material she had"?
Personally I felt Keira Knightley has been very good in everything I've seen her do. And I definitely agree that a lot of the judgmental boobs on these boards are reacting not to the actor, but to the character.

Agreed! Besides, I like the character of Penny, and I love Keira as an actress. How people can say she cannot act, really boggles the mind. Perhaps they have never seen her anything else but this movie and perhaps Pirates? Her acting was fine in both Seeking a Friend and the Pirates franchise, but some of her best acting was in movies such as Anna Karenina, Domino, Sense & Sensibility, etc.

shareKeira Knightley is one of the greatest actors of her time, which is why she is one of the hardest working actors of her time. She can do anything: comedy, drama, action, and period pieces. She is never the same in any role, and if anything, we have been over exposed to her, which is why people may be getting somewhat tired of seeing her. However, I will watch anything she's in because she's an intelligent actress that brings authenticity to every role. And the camera loves Keira. The woman doesn't have a bad angle. I have never understood how people can decide they dislike an actor when they don't really know them. All they can know are the characters they play. Keira stays out of the news, and I've never read any negative press about her. So what is there to dislike?

shareKeira is considered unattractive by most people. Her face is not that attractive and she has an almost emaciated look to her face and figure. The only reason I responded was due to the idiotic haters tag that is commonly used by people to try to discredit someone else's opinion. I will be happy when that trend goes away. Try to be original.
