Laurent blaming himself
For the deaths of loved ones. I can see how he arrived there. But he needs to realize it happened because of people's beliefs about him. That won't happen after they get away, he can just be a regular kid, and people won't fight over him. At least no more than any other kid who might end up used as a pawn.
