What type of humor is this?

I started watching last week. It is the type of show where I love what I've watched, but the plots would look completely ridiculous written down. If I were to recommend it, and I do, I would tell people trust me you just have to watch it and you will either like or not. Shows like Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Superjail have the same type of humor, but they are definitely for adults.

Wikipedia mentions "surreal humor" and "absurdist humor."

My brain is still trying to process the idea of Fin and Jake fighting science cat and a shark with a sword in a meadow.

I think that is probably a pretty accurate description. Absurdist and surreal. Also full of randomness humor. And be sure to underline how it's total nostalgia to 90's kids who grew up playing video games. A bunch of crazy computer game styled adventure, dungeons and dragons role play referencing, treasure seeking, questing...
