Basically a 2hr Argentinian Law and Order Episode

meh. This was like a longer Argentinian version of Law and Order.

Nice movie, but plot wasn't very good-- too melodramatic and cliche.

Everything was just too neat and easy in this film. The killer was in the photographs, they spotted Gomez out of a sea of soccer fans, Gomez creepily looks down Irene's cleavage, Gomez takes the reverse psychology bait, the hit men were given an address but no photo of Esposito beforehand.

Too easy and nothing we haven't seen before.

I don't disagree with it being too easy in how they identify and capture the perp. What I think you overlook is there is a lot more to this movie than that. It's more about what happens after this guy is convicted.
(spoilers)
That a convicted rapist-murderer was taken out of prison by a corrupt regime and given a prominent position by those in power. That there was nothing Esposito could do about it, and in fact had to flee because his life was in danger. And of course, how the victim's husband gets his own justice. None of this is your basic L&O episode.

When Gomez went missing didn't law enforcement go looking for him? I doubt "no one missed him." Gomez would regularly keep in touch with his mother, he was working in a prominent position in the criminal/judicial system, and he probably would have to pay the hit men after the job (assuming Gomez hired them and not Romano). Someone had to notice.

I liked the movie but it wasn't great on many levels especially about these kinds of plot details.

Yes, the convicted rapist/murderer gets taken out, but where haven't we seen corruption and evil trump goodness? Nevertheless, that was one of the better twists in the film.

I'm sure his going missing was noticed, and he was looked for, but clearly he wasn't found. This is not so implausible to me, certainly not enough to dismiss the movie because of these kind of details.

I personally did not care for (or about) the romance between Esposito and Irene. But this too, plays into the theme about people being caught in the past. Morales has spent 25 years pining for his murdered wife and has not moved on. Esposito has spent 25 years pining for Irene, and at the end, finally acts on it. That's what the movie is about, not the particulars of how they caught Gomez.

There was a great story in the middle of this movie, but in order to get to it one had to wade through a soppy, boring romantic subplot.

This world is a comedy to those that think, a tragedy to those that feel.

You must have been on some good drugs when you watched this... I hate Law and Order and LOVED this movie.

The killer was in the photographs, YES, A RATHER DRAMATIC WEAK POINT

they spotted Gomez out of a sea of soccer fans, IT WAS THEIR FOURTH MATCH THEY MENTIONED AND THEY HAD BEEN GOING AROUND THE STADIUM CHECKING OUT FANS CONTINUALLY, SO PLAUSIBLE

Gomez creepily looks down Irene's cleavage, Gomez takes the reverse psychology bait, YES A FAIRLY WEAK SCENE

the hit men were given an address but no photo of Esposito beforehand. I BET THIS HAS HAPPENED TONS OF TIMES IN REAL LIFE

THIS IS A GOOD FILM BUT YOU HAVE FOCUSED ON THE WEAKER POINTS
