Does anyone know anything about it? Anything at all? Stars, director etc?

Cheers!!

some rumors on the internet suggest that denzel washington would be playing esposito (who will obviously be renamed) and Billy Ray (co-writer of the hunger games and director of 07's Breach) will be directing.

my dream cast:
Liam Neeson for Esposito
Naomi Watts for Irene
Ryan Gosling for Morales
Cillian Murphy for Gomez

Directed by Marc Webb

I could only see one actor taking on the role in the remake- Al Pacino

Would have been perfect 20 years ago, a little old now. It's easier and more convincing to make younger actors look older than the reverse.

But of course - when in doubt cast an Irishman. People are such children. No wonder Hollywood gets away with taking liberties. If they do remake it I hope they'll get their facts right this time. Hastings is NOT a 'Scottish' name. Spite over the Falklands more than likely, but if it's a mistake it should be rectified.

Well. Yes and no.
generally regarded as Anglo-Scottish. However our research is that irrespective of any modern spelling or in which country it is found, its ultimate origin is the pre 5th century Norse-Viking... in later times it became locational from the town of Hastings, in Sussex, England, but this place itself is named after the Hastingas... The surname in Scotland may be pure Norse-Viking, since Scotland also suffered from the Viking raiders cum settlers, or locational from Hastings in England, but to add to the confusion both in England and Scotland it could also be Norman-French... Amongst the very earliest examples of the surname recording are those of Robert de Hastin, in the Pipe Rolls of the county of Leicestershire, in the year 1130, whilst the first recording in Scotland is that of Johanne de Hastinge, Lord of Duns, and sheriff of the Mearns, in 1178. He was a Norman knight who pledged allegiance to the king of Scotland, and also married Isabella de Valence, the niece of King Henry 111rd of England.

I will choose Russell Crowe and Jennifer Connelly.. one more time.. they are great together

reply

Clearly the best choice for Esposito would be Joe Mantegna. Sandoval has to be played by Steve Carell.

This movie was good, I hope Hollywood doesn't screw it up. What's so wrong with just watching the original version with subtitles?

reply

Don't like subtitles!

reply

Well, you sure are a special case of lazy and dumb.

Stupid people always complain when anything artistic is presented to them.

reply

Oh God ! not another(no doubt dumbed-down and inferior ), American remake of a non-English language film ! Couldn't Americans just accept subtitles ? Reading them isn't that difficult and they would find watching the originals so much more rewarding.

I just watched it tonight and I thought it was beautifully executed. I don't mind reading subtitles. Some people may fear it takes their eye away from the screen.
