Elevator Scene (Possible Spoiler)

A lot of posters have raved about the scene at the soccer stadium, and the praise is well earned as it was so beautifully and elegantly shot.

There was a second scene that I also liked a lot, and this was when Gomez joins Esposito and Irene in the elevator. Gomez starts to brandish his gun and we notice the look of dread and fear in the eyes of Esposito and Irene. It seemed to take forever for the elevator doors to open. Once Gomez steps out, we see him give them a threatening look good-bye (as reflected via the mirror on the back wall). And this all took place without a single line of dialogue being spoken.

Way underrated elevator scene, in my opinion. It's way shorter and much simpler compared to what we saw at the soccer stadium, but it still left me impressed.

What did you think of this scene?

"I'd say more like ... one out of a million."
"So you're telling me there's a chance ... Yeah!"

Agreed. Most impressive!

I believe that moment was just as intense for the audience as the two on the elevator. I know I was peeing MY pants... ๎†

I have over 6000 films; many of them very rare and OOP. I LOVE to trade. PLEASE ASK! ๎†

I wanted Esposito to blast Gomez and claim self defense.
I accepted he was too honest to do this, didn't have a gun or feared a video camera in the elevator would prove him a liar.

Another thing to take into account that maybe people who are not familiar with history in latin american countries don't know. This is a time where a lot of people disappeared. The democratic government was overthrown by the military and the dictatorship lasted for 7 years. People were afraid to speak their mind, and many were captured by the police and kept hostage, they were tortured and murdered. Many bodies were never recovered. And also, many babies born were taken by the police and given away. 30000 people disappeared during the dictatorship. Many bodies were not recovered. Many children live with a different identity.
Gomez is not just a regular killer, he is employed by Romano, and clearly Romano wants Esposito to disappear.
