I rarely give out 10/10 but this one...

The first time I watched it I thought it was above average. The second time around I realized... what a powerful film and I understood it more. The first time I saw the film my mind would wander but the second time I hung on to every single word.
I currently have this as one of the best foreign films I've seen. Better than Persona, Oldboy, Cinema Paradiso and Memories of Murder. And those movies are pretty amazing as is.

The Secret in Their Eyes is rated 9/10 right now and after my third viewing I'm strongly considering rating it a 10. This movies is perfect, I couldn't find a flaw. I rarely rate a movie 10, I have about 9 or 10 films rated at 10.

The reason why I made this thread is simply spread some positivity on this movie. People on this message board constantly make threads saying how boring it was, expecting to see a film where they have everything explained on a platter. This movies requires some thinking. I didn't think the movie title had any significance on the story the first time I watched it. But the second time... damn. I understood.

Anyone else here who didn't consider this movie a masterpiece after the first viewing, but now regards it as one of the best?

Well, I consider it a masterpiece but I am argentinian, it's not because the movie is argentinian,I don't actually like all our cinema... but this movie is really by far the best argentinian movie every made.

No, that would be Nueve reinas, then La historia oficial, el trueque y patagonia rebelde, Then el secreto. Let's put things in their places. ;)

I gave it a 10/10 the first time I saw it. Subsequent viewings have just reinforced that opinion. Very powerful movie.

Yes, it's very good indeed.

One thing that surprised me though was how funny it was (bearing in mind that the film is centred around the investigation of a horrific murder-rape, and the corruption that leads to the perpetrator's release) especially some of the exchanges between Benjamin and Pablo, and the bittersweet humour in the scenes revolving around the unrequited love between Irene and Benjamin. It's particularly memorable in the 1970s scene where Irene thinks Benjamin is about to privately profess his love to her before he asks Pablo to join them (to discuss reopening the investigation) and she warily refers to how her crystal ball is failing her.

Saw it yesterday for the first time and thought: what a impressive film!. I do need to re-watch it again, though to truly appreciate its mastery.

I've just it for the first time on BBC 2 It's a marvellous film with inherent warmth between the characters.

I would even of liked to have seen the same group as part of a television series set in the 1970's

Wonderful acting and a thoughtful story. About as far away from the rubbish Hollywood puts out as you can get.
