Soccer stadium scene was virtuoso filmmaking

A couple years after I saw this, that is what really stands out in my mind, still. The rest of the movie is hazy, but the look of that scene is etched into my memory.

Just rewatched this, and that was my thought exacty - I have to watch it again to try to work out how they did it.

The whole movie was brilliant.

As per the YouTube link upthread, it was that, then a crane, then handheld--with a hefty dose of CGI.

I suspected CGI but it was very well done. I had a hard time seeing where it went from reality to CGI.

They had to merge the helicopter footage into the handheld sequence. That's what really impressed me.

The game was at Huracan's stadium whose players including Rene Houseman. I always remember him as I studied the poetry of Houseman at school.
