I heard that Ellen Page was involved in a project titled "Defendor". Was it this film? And is Kat Dennings playing the role that was likely Ellen's role? I don't know! Do you know anything about it?

No. She was unable to do the project. Sorry.

All I know is that I had read that Ellen Page was supposed to be in the film but her schedule conflicted with the filming (according to her agents) so she could not appear in it. It is possible that Kat has her role in it now.

She will be in a similar themed movie called "Super". Maybe that's where the confusion is coming from.
