OR simply a remake of The Wayans' Bros' Blankman - only not as funny?

No, it is not a remake of Blankman; the main difference is this film, though a classical tragedy/comedy, is much funnier overall than any 'comedy' ever squeezed out by the Wayans.

Very Quixote-esque in many ways!
If you are interested in such stories as Don Quixote, you will likely enjoy this film.
