Save The Green Planet (spoiler)

Am I stupid or dose anyone else think this is the U.S attempt of a Save The Green Planet remake?

The plot is very similar.

I can see how you'd come to that statement, but I didn't get the same feel from "Defendor" at all. I do feel that "Save the Green Planet" is the superior film but not by much. Korean films tend to push the envelope a bit more and that's fine by me. I make all my friend watch STGP and they usually thank me for the recommendation afterward. It's just too good.

It felt similar to me since they were both schizophrenic movies that didn't have a well-defined tone. Comedy? Drama? Action? They both tried to do too many things, so it ended up doing them poorly.

But I guess that's not your question. They have vague similarities, but I don't see it as any sort or a remake. Maybe "inspired by" but not "based on."

I thought Defendor was Canadian.

The fact that this writer/director claims the idea for the script just "came to him all at once" two years after Save the Green Planet is very hard to believe. Yes there ARE differences...but OMG there are too many similarities. They may fool a lot of people into believing this is some original material but they will NOT fool me. I hope the writer/director has this heavily weighing on his conscious until he man's up and at least acknowledges the original source of his inspiration to write this quasi-remake.

The way Defendor used simple things like the lime juice for "torture", and marbles and wasps to attack bad guys definitely reminded me of Save the Green Planet. During the lime juice scene, Save the Green Planet actually came to mind. Interesting to see it came to mind for others too.

However, that's where the similarities end imo. No spoilers for others, but Save the Green Planet definitely goes wayyyy out there in comparison.
