Defendor's Dad... (Spoilers)

You know, it seems to me that they were gonna throw a really big plot twist at the end there, they sort of gave a nod to it at the end. There was mention earlier in the film that he never met his dad. Now, we knew "Captain Industry" had a lot of prostitutes, it only made sense that he was with Defendor's Mom at some point. So, towards the end I began to wonder, could Captain Industry be Defendor's dad? It sure seemed like the cliche plot twist to expect, and would've fit right in with the type of movie. It seemed like the directors teased the idea at the end, and then sorta threw it in your face, when he was curious as to Faye's last name, and defendor just whollops him and yells "Trench club!".

I find it highly unlikely that a rich and powerful Russian mob would shag one of the goods that he trafficks. Besides, it looks like Defendor's mom started 'whorin' after giving birth to him (remember the scene where she says goodbye).

though they showed he does have fun with them, it's unclear whether or not he shags them, its possible but at the same time we don't know.

I do agree however it doesn't look like he was his dad and I would have been disappointed in the film if they tried to do something like that.

Well I think they did the twist and captain industry is indeed his dad.
remember he said "what was her family name?" like he may have known her.
and he looked really strangely at defendor when he was leaving the scene.

I think it extremely unlikely that this Serbian Mobster would have been around banging hookers in wherever in North America this was meant to be set (I guess Ontario by the Court seal) about 40+ years earlier and gone on to be this mob boss. Did he look like he was well into his sixties and had spent the last several decades in America? Or is it more likely he came around the break-up of Yugoslavia?

I'm sure he was just really curious and looking at Defendor like that. And I mean, you'd be astonished too if a guy attacks you and your cronies with wasps and a trench club.

The guy isn't Poppington's dad. The movie was not going to be stupid enough to force that in, it just used that suspicion to give Defendor one last shot at the guy with his trench club.

I actually agree with you entirely. I came through these threads specifically to see if someone else had written it. Whether others believe it or not, it was clearly nodded to throughout the movie by the writers.
