How the hell this

... bastardised garbage is sitting at 7.6 on IMDb is beyond me!

Writing: Terrible
Acting/Actors: Dire, simply dire.

I binged watched all 8 episodes and I was ready to give up half way through the 2nd episode, but I persevered and it just got worse, to the point that I was FFWD'ing now and again. In fact the only good thing that kept me going with it at times was the CGI, and some of that was dire as well.

Overall, disappointing.

reply

I dont know how you could binge watch. I stopped after 3 episodes.
The only interesting thing in the series is the overarching plot. It has no merit script wise, acting is bad, editing is meh.

reply

I liked it 🤷‍♂️

reply

The title really pisses me off and I have no plans to watch it. What does 3 Body Problem even mean?

reply

Er…..spoilers.

It’s really quite good.

reply

I enjoyed it too.

reply

Pass.

reply

Your loss.

reply

They explain it in the show. It’s an old scientific quandary about how gravity unpredictably affects large objects in space.

In the show it metaphorically reflects the 3 Wallfacers and Trisolarians inability to predict or read their tactics.

reply

Sounds pretentious and confusing.

reply

🤷‍♂️ maybe. I thought it was pretty good.

reply

What??? The title has nothing to do with the 3 wallfacers... I mean in the book there is actually 4 wallfacers... It refers (as it has already been expalined) to the 3 suns in the Trisolarian solar system.

reply

The three body problem is a physics scenario of three "bodies", suns or planets, in orbit and how there is now solution to determine how to calculate the position of the three bodies into the future.

That is if you have three bodies in space-time, and you know their initial conditions, positions and velocity, there is no solution to be able to plot out their positions in the future as you can if you just have two bodies, like the Earth and Moon.

reply

This makes me want to see it less and I'm a sci-fi guy.

reply

Why does it make you want to see it less? Science and physics, yo!

reply

I like Star Trek and stuff like that, but this sounds like it's trying too hard.

reply

You can't have 3 bodies randomly orbiting, eventually 1 gets thrown out, 3 is impossible. I assume the show claims it's somewhat possible ?

reply

why?

reply

Spoiler!!

The Earth is being imperialized by an alien species who come from a planet that is gravitationally bound to three stars (three body problem) which causes their origin planet to go through lengthy periods of both stability and chaos, which presumably is not up to the alien species’ preference. They’d rather have our world.

reply

This sounds worse every time I hear it.

reply

it's referring to 3 celestial bodies. It is explained in the show.

reply

Especially the monkey…that shit looked like ass.

reply

I thought the same and then my wife said it looked really good. I was like hmmmkay then...

reply

It was a bit mushy, but, overall, it was good, actually. The only thing that truly annoyed me was Eiza Gonzalez.
