So RDJr originally stated being up for an Iron Man 4. But I guess changed his mind, maybe due to being in Spider-Man Homecoming and upcoming Avengers...

Thanks to the Marvel 1 Shot we know there's a real Mandarin running the 10 Rings. I get the idea that the real Mandarin uses people to pose as him (like Ra's did in Batman Begins) which is what Killian was doing, and he in turn had Trevor Slattery for the same thing.

Captain America has dealt with Hydra... it's time for Stark to deal with the 10 Rings, going back to where it all began for him.

How do we know?

Spoilers for the one-shot (so either watch the one-shot, or if you don't care, read the spoiler) a 'journalist' that comes to interview Trevor in jail about the events of Iron Man 3 is actually a member of the Ten Rings. He indicates that the Mandarin is an actual person/title. At the end of the one-shot, the journalist says that he's there to break him out to take him to someone that wants to meet him. Trevor asks is it someone he knows. The journalist says "No, but you took his name, and now he wants it back."

I'd like an IRON MAN 4. But chances are it won't be about the real Mandarin, and SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING will probably cover a lot of his recuperating after CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR.

Indeed. This fan art with Trevor meeting the real Mandarin really gets my anticipation of Iron Man 4 going.
