It gets better and better when you watch it

At first when I saw this film I was eh ok but now that they air it on tv Starz or Encore, I've been watching it again and again and I pretty much like the movie, its good for the entertainment value, the action and more Tony Stark than Iron Man.

That should be the case with anyone that cares enough to break it down as a film. Not only does it hold up well under repeat viewing but it gets better because the little nuances are allowed to be appriciated more. The crisp and witty dialogue really shines more. The actual character development is noticed more as are the little beats.

I liked it right off the bat and so did everyone I saw it with. Then, I think I enjoyed it even more the second time I saw it. My mond wasn't racing and I simply let the film be itself.

I accept your surrender.

With all the hate the film got on these boards since its release, I thought I was the only one who liked and fully appreciated the twist and especially the modern political aspect of it. (image manipulation, defense contracts, redemption, Tony's character arc)

But it's nice to see more people appreciate this film, now that it's on Starz. There is a lot going on in this film: a lot of misdirection, motivations, many characters, and it's just an overall fun and well done film to watch.

The only drawback to this film for me is that it wasn't shot on film like the first two were...... but that's just a minor nitpick.

Really hoping for more solo Iron Man, and that Downey is just waiting for Avengers 2 and 3 to renegotiate his contract....

Every movie has a disproportionate number of haters on imdb. The more successful it is, the more of them come out. Quite a few people didn't like bits and pieces of it, myself included, but the ratings (not to mention box office) indicate a high level of overall satisfaction.

At this stage it's just one angry nolanite and what's the point of that?

Are you talking about the guy with the bad English? His trolling is so bad, it barely counts.

reply

I really liked it when I first saw it, but I just watched it for the 2nd time and realized that it's the worst of the series.

reply

Time to watch it again.

I love what they did here and advanced with Hail To The King!

First time i watched, it was an 8/10... Second time it was 6/10, and the third time it was 7/10, which is how i see it today :)

I've seen this many times now and it is so well written that it holds up better than any other film of last year.

reply

It sucks. It cannot be sat through more than once, other than by folks who for some reason choose to ignore the concepts from the comics.

reply

I wasn't excited to see it because of the online hate for it, but it was fantastic. Probably the best shot of the Marvel movies, also great dialogue and good focus on Tony Stark. I don't think the lack of time in the suit hurt the movie at all, there were great action scenes. I also don't get the hate for the Mandarian twist, sure it's not like the comics but there is no way the comics version of the Mandarian would work. I thought it was refreshing and a good commentary on media manipulation.

It looks like Marvel Phase 2 is much fresher and unique then the 1st phase that suffered a little from sticking to a formula.

No one pays attention to haters and the very few fanboys who wanted a stereotype villain. The haters are already at work against Avengers Age of Ultron as if they will matter. You'd think they'd learn one of these years.

That's why everyone loves this film. The focus was squarely on Tony Stark and the armor stuff was secondary. Still a key and still very cool but secondary.

They do a wonderful job bringing this remarkable character to life.

I like it over all but still hate the Mandrin twist.HAIL TO THE KING did not fix that to me.

You dont need to watch Hail To The King one shot to learn that theres a "real" Mandarin out there, IM3 already hinted this.

But as of now, as IM3 is concern, Killian is thee Mandarin.

reply

In both cases, it works and works well. Future Mandarin if they choose but Killian is awesome here.

It's rewatchable nature is off the charts.

Every Marvel film that's the case. Can anyone say that about any other studio? Even Pixar?

reply

This movie could win the football national championship had it been invited.
