John Byrne hated the movie.

One of the most influential comic book writers, who also wrote one of the best Iron Man runs ever, said that he was extremely disappointed with the movie, and he hated what the movie did to the Mandarin.

Do you have something to say about that, Iron Man 3 apologists? I mean, many of you have volleyed, "Oh, Adi Granov and Mark Millar said that they liked the movie. So even comic book guys like it, you dumb fanboy! Your opinion is irrelevant." So what can you say now, when it turns out that not only Bob Layton (another iconic creator) hated the movie, but also John Byrne.

P.S. John Byrne's Mandarin is the best version of the Mandarin.

So your agenda "I need to force people to hate on mcu" is still going?
Couldn't care less if "One of the most influential comic book writers" didn't like the movie

Which agenda? Did I say, "John Byrne hates the movie, too, so you have to hate it as well"? No. Stop lying. If someone is forcing people to change their opinion on this movie, it's apologists of this movie who constantly attack people that criticize this movie. Also, I was talking about Iron Man 3, not MCU.

You didn't care about it so much, you decided to reply to a post about "one of the most influential comic book writers".

reply

Thats exactly his agenda. Force people to hate the MCU. Its been his agenda from the beginning and he aint gonna stop.

reply

Force people to hate the MCU.

If I actually had the power to "force" people to change their minds on certain things, I wouldn't use it to make them hate movies that I hate. I would force them to not vote for Donald Trump.

reply

Nice appeal to authority.

Comics have characterization? Logic? Damn, shame we didn't get an Iron Man 3 with characterization as good as this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j9Uh_RucKz8

Comics have characterization?

Is that a rhetorical question? The answer is pretty obvious. You must be very unknowledgeable when it comes to comics if you think that comics don't have characterizations. In fact, comics often have better characterizations than movies have.

Logic?

Depends on the story. But you don't tell me that Iron Man 3 had logic. People breathe fire and explode because they injected themselves with some genetic mambo-jumbo?

Heck, I wouldn't mind if they would just go full-on TDKR and would just made Iron Man 3 a direct continuation of the first movie. That would've made for a better movie.

Roald Dahl didn't like Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory.

Stephen King hated Kubrick's The Shining.

Anthony Burgess hated Kubrick's A Clockwork Orange.

Truman Capote hated Breakfast at Tiffany's.

P.L. Travers didn't like Disney's film adaptation of Mary Poppins.

Brett Easton Ellis didn't fancy American Psycho's film version.

HG Wells didn't like the film version of The Island of Dr. Moreau which went under the name of The Island of Lost Souls instead. He also didn't like Metropolis( Didn't have anything to do with it, but he thought it was bad).

Bruce Timm liked Batman Forever out of all four of the late 80's/90's Batman movies.

Bob Kane also liked Batman Forever the best out of every Batman film made in his lifespan.

Richard Matheson didn't like The Omega Man, which was based on his novel I Am Legend.

Walt Disney didn't like his company's rendition of Peter Pan despite all the success it brought them.

In other words, so the guy who wrote for the comic didn't care for the movie and like what they did...Doesn't mean nobody else can enjoy it for its own merits and defend it if they feel inclined to do so.

I guess you missed the part of my comment in which I emphasized that many apologists of this movie have volleyed that some comic book creators enjoyed this, thus it makes any form of criticism against this movie illegitimate. I've pointed out that not everyone is complimenting this movie like a horde of brainless sheep. I didn't present his opinion to showcase that the movie is bad (since I have enough arguments to say why I think it's bad), but to showcase that there are plenty of iconic comic book guys who don't like this movie. John Byrne and Bob Layton, who are one of the most influential people when it comes to Iron Man, said that both Iron Man 2 and 3 were crap. I don't present their opinion to say that it's a fact that these movie are crap. I use them to prove that not everyone is passively accepting these awful movies just because MCU fanboys won't like their opinion if it doesn't fit their agenda. But yeah, I find it funny that you have problems when I trash crap like Iron Man 3 but you never hold back your criticism against The Dark Knight trilogy or DCEU.

reply

Please dont put The Dark Knight trilogy and DCEU in the same sentence.

The Dark Knight trilogy is the main reason why DCEU happened. If not for its success, Warner. Brother would be more apprehensive about the creation of their own superhero universe.

I'd care if the character in Iron Man 3 was the Mandarin. But he was no more the Mandarin than a bank Robber wearing a Richard Nixon mask was the former president.

Well, like me, he doesn't like the movie for various different reasons that have nothing to do with how the movie bastardizes the Mandarin. Even if you take the Mandarin out of the movie, you still have crappy script and bad dialogues.

Thank you. The OP and John Byrne are retards.

MCU fanboys at their finest. You do know that Iron Turd 3 took a lot of elements from John Byrne's work for its (crappy) story? The remote control mechanism was John Byrne's idea, you narrow-minded ninny.

Are you retards can't have good ideas once in a while?

A delusional nutjob criticizes me and one of the most influential comic book creators for the lack of ideas? Really??

That's outrageous.

I know, right? It's outrages that imbeciles like you have an internet access.

reply

From his site!??? THAT is an imbecile with an internet access. Byrne shouts garbage from behind a computer screen desperate for attention, ANY attention, any at all. He's a lot like you. You're tiresome but hell you can make me laugh so hard my stomach starts to hurt. Kind of like you are right now :D thinking that anybody (who's anybody) actually pays attention to his wee autocratic site. He frequently deletes comments and bans commenters who disagree with him. This guy gives out no interviews in case he's held accountable for what he says in there. Even his colleagues disagree with him. Nothing of what he says means much outside of that dungheap. I wouldn't go sticking your nose into that pile of vile disgorge to substantiate your little arguments. I like his work especially his marvel run but wouldn't agree with a lot of what that he says outside of it. Flippant, just like you.

P.S. mh-newressistance is a bigger imbecile on imdb.

That "imbecile" is probably one of the reasons why you can enjoy so many comic book movies nowadays. You can blindly point your finger at any comic book movie that you like and it would most likely be based on John Byrne's work. So you're quite ignorant for saying this, pal.

Byrne shouts garbage from behind a computer screen desperate for attention, ANY attention, any at all.

Except, he never says those things in the interviews. He simply has discussions with his fans on his forums. He doesn't make any public claims.

He's a lot like you.

That's more like a compliment for me, really. Being associated with one of my favorite comic book writers isn't a bad thing.

You're tiresome but hell you can make me laugh so hard my stomach starts to hurt.

Maybe you should go to a doctor? Pain in the stomach is not a good sign.

Kind of like you are right now

You mean honest?

:D thinking that anybody (who's anybody) actually pays attention to his wee autocratic site.

There are hundreds of users that communicate with Byrne all the time. So I guess there are people who pay attention to him. Not to mention, he wrote some of the best-selling comic book runs ever. So some people care about him.

He frequently deletes comments and bans commenters who disagree with him.

You mean when people use profanity and insult him? I think it's written somewhere on his site, before you create your login, that you don't have to be a dick.

This guy gives out no interviews in case he's held accountable for what he says in there.

He doesn't like interviews, period. That's his personal thing. Doesn't change anything about his creative input.

Even his colleagues disagree with him.

When you have opinions that often differentiate with others, there will be a lot of people that will disagree with you. (Like in this case.)

Nothing of what he says means much

Only if you're snobby anti-purist who doesn't respect talent.

I wouldn't go sticking your nose into that pile of vile disgorge to substantiate your little arguments.

Considering how antagonistic you're towards the man (just because he has different opinion), I think I'd rather stick to my position while staying away from eccentric, self-esteemed simpletons like you.

I like his work especially his marvel run but wouldn't agree with a lot of what that he says outside of it.

Nobody forces you to agree with him.

Flippant, just like you.

Yeah, right, name-calling people is the right way to make an argument.

P.S. mh-newressistance is a bigger imbecile on imdb.

Good job at defeating your own arguments about me. You're trying to act as if I'm some kind of an ancient evil while I have not insulted you at least once. (I guess Iron Man 3 apologists do have some kind of a problem with the attitude.)

reply

Not name-calling; I have an argument, byrne is flippant with others, and he continues to give reasons to why some admirers of his work don't care for what he has set up (his forum) and the ignorance he uses it for. You either love him and don't know or don't care / or welcome his vile remarks / or have learned to separate the work from a very stupid person. like I remember he said some really dumb things about Christopher Reeve. And no I actually respect talent but it can't be an excuse for saying whatever you want behind a some forum and not allow people a chance to question you. He's called well-respected artist's work "crappy". His writing is brilliant people can say things about his art too.

You're trying to act as if I'm some kind of an ancient evil while I have not insulted you at least once.
